Metro Decay- Κειμήλια (Relics)
Metro Decay was a Greek New Wave/ Post Punk band of the 1980s, which is considered one of the first and most influential bands of the Athenians and the Greek post-punk era. Their music is marked by keyboard-dominated, dark sounds, sometimes strongly reminiscent of The Cure and similar to UK models. The texts, consistently in the Greek language, which was a rarity at the time to give a pessimistic, claustrophobic fundamental perspective.
In 1982, they opened up for Nick Cave's band, The Birthday Party concerts and published the following year of their first single Σκιές / Κειμήλια (in German: Schatten/ assets), followed by their first and last LP 1984 Υπερβαση (injury) by Greece's most famous independent record label the 1980s, Creep Records which was one of the first indie labels in the country and a haven for bands flirting with the darker side of "new wave", and released a 7 inch ("Skies"/Keemilia") in 1983 and critically acclaimed LP "Ypervasi" in 1984.
